Superstar - Art for Nature 2006

Filed under: events — mukaketupat @ 2:27 pm

Came to work this morning and found an invite on my desk. Yep! Its the time of the year again..Yahoo!!

“Art for Nature is an annual charity art exhibition held in aid of WWF-Malaysia. It is generously sponsored by Hijjas Kasturi Associates. This exhibition is a unique showcase for Malaysian and international artist in support of nature and conservation. Proceed will support artists and WWF-Malaysia’s work in safeguarding our unique natural heritage for all Malaysian.” - excerpt from the invite.

It opens this Saturday, 7pm, 12th May at Rimbun Dahan.

Now, if you haven’t been to Rimbun Dahan, take this oppurtunity to go while the exhibition is showing. Let me tell you a little bit about Rimbun Dahan. Its a residency project developed by garden lover, environmentalist Angela Hijjas. She writes for The Malaysian Naturalist, the magazine of the Malaysian Nature Society. Her articles can be found here. She is inspiring and in my opinion she is a rock star!

Rimbun is tucked away in Kuang and Angela Hijjas converted the land to a tropical indigenous garden of paradise! Everytime i visited Rimbun, its always nice to stroll around the garden (and its a huge huge garden!). Everything is labelled (everything!). Botanical names, breed…etc. Heres a link for the list of trees and plants and the history. There’s water plants, huge trees, small trees, flowers and ART!!.. crazy CRAZY amazing!

Anyway, i don’t think i’m doing any justice in my not-very-eloquent description of the place or of the respectable *bowing* Angela Hijjas. You should just go check it. It’s really worth it. :)

And opps..don’t forget the exhibition!
